Xavier Technical Institute, Khanapur

  Khanapur is a village, at a distance of 26 kilometres from Belagavi. Xavier Technical Institute (ITI College) is a Jesuit Technical or Vocational School, located at Shivaji Nagar, Khanapur, managed by Br. Thomas D’Souza, Principal of Xavier Technical Institute. Xavier ITI offers 2 technical courses, Fitter and Electrician trade. Students from Khanapur and nearby villages Gunji, Manshapur, Harsanwadi, Nittur, Desur, Bargaon, Nandgad show their interests of undergoing these courses and to pursue a technical certificate.

At present we have 47 students undergoing the trade courses, 23 students for Fitter trade and 24 for Electrician trade. Industrial Technical Education is an important factor for the growth and development of the students who are not able to enhance their higher academic status. Industrial Training Institutes are post-secondary schools in India constituted under Directorate General of Employment & Training (DGET), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Union Government to provide training in various trades.

Xavier ITI exposes students to real work life and to equip them with necessary skills so that they would be job ready when they graduate. Institutions tend to introduce this component irrespective of the discipline of studies with the intention of ensuring their students competency and fully prepared for job.

Xavier ITI gives them practical skills and first-hand knowledge about the fitter’s trade and electrician trade. It is being able to provide job opportunities for 3000 to 4000 students.
